Charlotte Tilbury’s History
Charlotte Tilbury knew from an early age that she would do something creative, and after discovering mascara at age 13, she was hooked. With both parents in the arts – her father a painter and mother a luxury production manager – it was inevitable.
Tilbury was born in London but grew up in Ibiza and after meeting the inspirational makeup artist Mary Greenwell she trained at the Glauca Rossi School of Makeup in London.
As a determined young woman, she was persistent and constantly worked at building her network of professional peers including photographers, models and stylists – many of whom she still collaborates with today. The ’90s – the era of supermodels who epitomised glamorous beauty and embraced hair and makeup artistry – were an inspiration. In 2013, she launched her own skin care and beauty brand, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Ltd. at Selfridges in London, the retailer’s biggest-ever beauty launch. Her products are now sold all over the world.
“I believe that every woman wants to feel beautiful and powerful, and makeup is a great way to achieve this. Makeup gives you instant confidence. It’s about feeling as fabulous on the outside as you do on the inside,” Tilbury says.
With more than 200 international awards for her cosmetics and fragrances, Charlotte Tilbury continues her impressive reign over the beauty industry. Charlotte Tilbury opened at Doha Festival City in November 2017.
